About Me

I am a Costume Designer and Technician based in Southeastern Wisconsin and Central Colorado whose approach to storytelling centers on wonder, inventiveness, and curiosity. For me, approaching theatre-making with these values means asking good questions, finding creative solutions, and discovering connection by exploring the truth of where we are and the hope of what we can become.

My passion for costuming began when I was very young: playing dress-up, learning to sew, and putting on “plays” with my siblings. Since then, I’ve had many opportunities to develop as an artist, completing a BA in Theatre Arts with a Concentration in Design and Technology at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and working with performance companies including the Colorado Shakespeare Festival, First Stage, Kohl's Wild Theater (Milwaukee County Zoo), and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Department of Dance.

I believe that the purpose of theatre is to bring people together through collective emotional, thought-provoking, and action-inspiring experiences. As a Designer and Technician, I have the opportunity to support this purpose from the earliest stages of production. I enjoy the creative problem-solving and inventiveness required to bring an idea to life through collaboration with other talented artists: each of us a small part of a much bigger picture.

Serving the bigger picture also helps to anchor and direct my work. I seek to create an individual wardrobe for each character that reflects not only the aesthetic and technological needs of the production but also the world in which they exist and their unique place within its structures. From the hats on the actor’s heads to the scuffs on their shoes, my job is about supporting the audience’s immersion in the world of the story and inviting them into wonder and discovery. I relish this ongoing exploration of the details that make characters engaging, worlds impactful, and theatre powerful.
